Echo, for Zheng and Percussion, was commissioned and premiered by Chinese Zheng player Yashi Li in 2019. At the beginning of the work, the percussion instruments respond to the Zheng’s monologue with similar timbres and textures. As the music develops, more timbre contrasts appear between the two, like a dialogue between the Zheng and percussion
